FILI is one of the largest urban and non-urban regeneration projects in Europe

An impressive regeneration project of the main points of the FERROVIENORD network, promoted by Regione Lombardia, FNM, FERROVIENORD and Trenord, which includes urban redevelopment works leveraging on cutting-edge architectural design and environmental sustainability solutions.

The Milan-Malpensa axis, a key link for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics, will look like a whole new artery of green, modern and highly livable urban scenarios. It will be an innovative and ideal journey in the technological and biotechnological evolution of Milano Cadorna, Milano Bovisa, Saronno and Busto Arsizio railway stations and their surrounding areas, which are at the core of a project covering over 188,000 square meters, involving a total of 2 million square meters throughout Lombardy. FILI also features the planting of thousands of trees, as well as the creation of a 54 km long cycling superhighway between Milano Cadorna railway station and Milano Malpensa airport, which will provide oxygen for the city of Milan.
It is an outstanding project based on urban inclusiveness and environmental sustainability values, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals under which the project is developed.

1

Milano Cadorna railway station

The Hanging Synthetic Forest will be developed in one of the most evocative areas of Milan crossed by Leonardo da Vinci’s route stretching from the Sala delle Asse of the Castello Sforzesco to the Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie, and, like an imaginary factory, it will produce oxygen for the city of Milan.

2

Milano Bovisa railway station

FNM Group’s new groundbreaking headquarters – based on environmental sustainability - will be built near one of the most important mobility hubs, the heart of a district that will undergo an urban regeneration process.

3

Saronno Polo

FERROVIENORD will develop a project with a strong urban impact in the city of Saronno, around one of the main network’s crossroads. It involves the reorganization of the technological and maintenance infrastructure of the Saronno Centro hub, in order to achieve high operating and safety standards and improve both accessibility and viability.

4

Busto Arsizio railway station

An urban regeneration plan to transform an historical break in the city into a new urban life centre, allowing reactivating urban connections while acting as a driving force for the development of the surrounding areas.

Piantalalì

The planting and reforestation of thousands of trees in Lombardy municipalities crossed by the FERROVIENORD railway network. The first phase involves an area of about 41,000 hectares and 24 Municipalities. A massive nature-based project involving the areas in and around the railway network.

Cycling superhighway

The cycling superhighway will cover an area of 54 km, seamlessly connecting Milano Cadorna railway station with Malpensa airport. It is a true infrastructural axis focused on sustainable mobility, integrated by different service systems.
